Introduction
Child Development Clinic
Our Child Development Clinic caters to high-risk children, particularly those who have experienced birth asphyxia, neonatal seizures, or have spent time in the neonatal ICU. We intervene early, even before any developmental delays manifest, to provide comprehensive care and support.
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive brain disorder that predominantly affects arm and leg movement, but can also impact speech, swallowing, and cognitive skills. Our rehabilitation program focuses on improving motor function and providing tools and therapies to enhance quality of life for children with cerebral palsy.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disabilities, affecting reading, writing, spelling, and often handwriting. Although letter or word reversals may concern children with dyslexia, they are not the primary markers. Our approach includes individualized educational strategies and support to help children overcome these challenges.
Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Conditions
We treat a variety of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions in children, such as:
- Clubfoot
- Scoliosis
- Kyphosis
- Bowlegs
- Knock knees
- Hip dysplasia
These conditions can cause pain and deformities of the affected joints. Our treatments focus on correcting these deformities and alleviating pain through surgical and non-surgical interventions.
Pediatric Limb Deficiencies
Congenital limb deficiencies can affect the arms (transradial or transhumeral) or legs (transfibular, transtibial, or transfemoral) and often result from various causes, including certain medications and maternal diabetes during pregnancy. Our rehabilitation services aim to provide prosthetic solutions and physical therapy to help children achieve maximum mobility and functionality.
Spina Bifida
Spina bifida is a developmental disorder causing defects in the vertebral column and, if severe, can damage the spinal cord. Our multidisciplinary team works to manage the physical and neurological aspects of spina bifida, aiming to improve mobility and quality of life.
Peripheral Neuromuscular Disorders
These conditions affect muscles, nerves, or the junction between them. Symptoms include progressive weakness in the arms and legs, difficulty with speech and swallowing, and intellectual disability. Our rehabilitation programs are designed to manage symptoms and enhance the child’s functional abilities.
Speech and Language Delay
We provide support for children with speech and language delays, often associated with other conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, seizures, and apraxia. Our speech and language therapists work to develop communication skills through tailored intervention plans.
